Title: A Summer Walk in Ystad – Visiting Ale's Stones with Friends
Ystad, a small town on Sweden's southern coast, offers a great mix of history, sea views, and relaxed atmosphere. On a sunny summer day, I joinde to friends from the SocialHub to explore the area and enjoy a drink afterwards.
Our walk began along the coast, where the waves gently hit the shore. The water looked dark and natural, with seaweed near the rocks. It wasn’t a classic beach scene, but it had a raw and peaceful vibe.
Soon we arrived at Ale's Stones (Åles stenar), a megalithic monument that overlooks the sea. The large stones are arranged in the shape of a ship and have been standing there for over a thousand years.
From the hilltop, we had an amazing view of the Baltic Sea and the open landscape, filled with wildflowers and fresh air.
Walking around the circle of stones, I couldn’t help but think about how old they are and what kind of people once stood in the same place.
Each stone is weathered and covered in lichen, adding to the feeling of history. The grass grows thick around them, and the sea breeze made the experience feel calm and real.
After spending time at the site, we walked down to the small harbor. There were boats, people enjoying the weather, and a few places to get snacks or drinks.
We ended the day by having a drink together in Ystad. Sitting outside, watching the sun set, and chatting with friends made for a great finish to our outing.
If you’re in southern Sweden, Ystad and Ale's Stones are definitely worth a visit. It’s a perfect day trip—walk, relax, and enjoy a drink with good company.
